Forget Fashion Week, Next Week is FinTech Week
What’s better than Fashion Week in New York City? FinTech Week, and it all starts on Monday, September 22. We spent the last two weeks meeting with bankers all across the Southeast United States on our Bank Innovators Road Show (the first four videos from the workshops are already up, and the others will be up soon), and now it’s time to wrap it up with FinTech Week in New York. (All times listed are Eastern Standard Time)
Monday 1:00 – 5:00 – Bank Innovators Lab Day
Our Bank Innovators Lab Day comes to New York from 1:00 to 5:00 on Monday September 22, followed by a networking reception. Join thought leaders, executives and influencers from FinTechs and banks as we look at the FinTech companies about to demonstrate at Finovate through the lens of our Relevance Models. Limited tickets remain, and registration and more information are available here.
Monday 8:15 – 5:00 – Tomorrow’s Transactions Unconference
NYPAY and Consult Hyperion and are presenting the 3rd Annual NYC Tomorrow’s Transactions Unconference, also Monday, September 22, 2014 at Google’s New York offices. The Unconference event is a unique mix of thought-leadership talks and open-space discussions on topics chosen by the delegates on the day. FinTech and other topics expected to be covered to include social and financial inclusion, new transaction technologies (e.g. HCE), mobile financial services, data security, cryptocurrencies, new institutions and much more. (We attended last year and recommend it for anyone not attending our Lab Day, it’s too bad we are scheduled in conflict this year.)
Monday 6:00 – 8:00 PM – Trade Canada Networking Reception
Meet Canada’s most innovative FinTech companies, including Finovate presenters Fast Advance, Financeit, and Quad Payments, LLC, plus Canadian technology accelerator companies Advantage PBX Software, Merchant Explorer, and Market IQ; with a special keynote address from Greg Baxter, Global Head of Digital Strategy at Citi. The event will be held at Thomson Reuters at 3 Times Square. Space is limited, RSVP here.
Tuesday 8:00 – 4:00 – FinovateFall, Day One
On September 23 & 24, Finovate returns to NYC with FinovateFall, the flagship two-day showcase of the latest and greatest FinTech innovations from leading established companies and hot young startups.
Finovate’s signature demo-only format will present 70 companies with just 7 minutes on stage to demo their latest innovations to the entire audience. Networking sessions follow the demos each day, giving you the chance to make one-on-one connections with the innovators you just saw on stage, as well as the other influential fintech professionals in attendance. If it’s not already sold out, you can save 20% by using code BIC20 when registering.
Tuesday 6:00 – 8:00 PM – Chris Skinner: Digital Bank
Tuesday evening we are proud to help sponsor our friend, noted FinTech commentator Chis Skinner for an exclusive dinner reception for his new book Digital Bank. The need for innovation in a world where consumers and businesses want digital and virtual access to their money is driving investment in financial technology by many players, including banks and other traditional financial services providers.
How customer demand and technology are changing the way we bank and why embracing that change is critical for banks is the subject of a new book, Digital Bank, by thought leader and author Chris Skinner. Please join us for an engaging session with Chris, as he walks us through the ways in which financial services providers of all types are disrupting the world of banking. Space is limited, RSVP here.
(P.S. – Chris will also be in Boston October 2 for a similar event during Sibos)
Wednesday 8:00 – 4:00 – FinovateFall, Day Two
Finovate’s 7-minute demos and networking sessions continue on Wednesday, with Best of Show awards announced at the end of the day.
Thursday 3:00 – Breaking Banks Radio Show
Each week FinTech icon Brett King hosts Breaking Banks, the only dedicated global radio show focused on disruption in financial services and the emerging FinTech sector. Next week’s show will be guest hosted by Jim Marous, publisher of the Digital Banking Report and Retail Banking Strategies for The Financial Brand; and I will be making my fourth guest appearance, talking about all of the things happening in FinTech week. (AM 1160 in New York, and VoiceAmerica Business Channel)
Supermodels are great and all, but what a week for FinTech!
JP — great post, thank you for consolidating all the info in one place. Question: where did you get the info about the Trade Canada event on Monday? Trying to register, link is dead, any guess? thank you
Thanks. I got it directly from them, I just tried it again and it worked for me. You can email me if you’re still having trouble. jp (at) bankinnovators.org
