Q: What happens when you combine a payments Unconference, the North American finals of the BBVA Open Talent competition and a great mix of presentations and panels right before Finovate?
A: FinTechX, a FinTech eXtravaganza, and 240 attendees from across the financial services spectrum enjoyed a great day of engaging and thought-provoking discussions.
Just two comments from the crowd express the crowd sentiment from last week’s sold out event:
- “I was thoroughly impressed with the caliber of speakers/attendees”
- “I’m still telling people about yesterday’s #FintechX. Best event I have been to in a long while.”
The event featured an opening keynote from Ben Milne, CEO of Dwolla, and a fireside chat with Josh Reich, CEO, Simple, Jay Reinemann, Executive Director, BBVA Ventures, and Matt Harris, Managing Director, Bain Capital Ventures.
The afternoon panel discussed “What does API-based competition look like?” featuring Anand Ramakrishnan, President and CEO, Opus Consulting Solutions, Jim Marous, owner and publisher of the Digital Banking Report and Ron Shevlin, Director of Research at Cornerstone Advisors.
In between those sessions, 17 startups competed for EUR30,000 as part of the BBVA Open Talent competition. Read more about this competition and the winners here.
The day also featured attendees discussing FinTech topics most relevant to them during the Unconference sessions.
We have a lot more in store for the rest of 2015 and in 2016 at the Bank Innovators Council and at Next Bank, be sure to get on our email list for early notification and special offers.
