Jim Bruene founded boutique fintech consultancy Financial Innovations in 1994 and began publishing Online Banking Report in 1995 and the Netbanker blog in 2004. In 2007, the company entered the live-event field with the Finovate series showcasing new fintech and in 2014, the FinDEVr series for developers focused on the TECH in fintech. Bruene also served as an early advisor to several pioneering fintech companies including Elon Musk’s X.com and Worldwide Connect (USA).
